• About Jim
  • Jim studied under New York jazz drummer and big band leader Howie Mann, with a broad approach to jazz, rock, latin and classical concert styles of music, based on a strong underpinning of snare drum and drum set fundamentals.
  • In addition to his private instruction program, Jim donates time as an instructor and mentor with children who are eligible with Kids In A New Groove (KING), a non-profit organization affiliated with Partnerships for Children. The KING mentoring through music program provides Central Texas youth who have had experience with the child welfare system with a committed one-on-one mentoring relationship through free weekly, private music lessons, giving students the ability to transform their lives through connection and support.
  • Jim is active performing as the principal percussionist of the Starlight Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with the Austin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hill Country Community Band, and the Aquarina Springs Symphonic Band.
  • Jim also enjoys sharing music as the host of Jazz Lines Radio, carried on KWVH 94.3 fm and on KZSM 104.1 fm. Jim also serves on the Board of Directors, and is past president, of KWVH Wimberley Valley Radio.
